The Importance of your child's Lexile Level

On every standardized assessment, a child will receive a Lexile score.

💡Parents, don’t ignore this number.

The Lexile Level measures the student’s reading ability and the difficulty of a text. The higher the score, the higher the student’s reading ability.

The Lexile Level ranges from 0L to 2000L, and although there is a range for the grade level, the score is not based on grade level but on reading ability. (It can get a little confusing).

Understanding your child’s Lexile Level can help you choose books based on their reading ability. This cuts down on frustration and builds the child’s confidence. It also allows you to personalize their learning experience, monitor their progress, and support your child on their level. There is a parent area for you to find resources to browse, download, and find books that match your child’s Lexile Level.

It’s a free and fantastic resource.
