Speak Up

I believe in getting to the root of the issue.

I sat in a meeting to represent a child with multiple write-ups and suspensions, slept in class all day, and was labeled disrespectful and disruptive. He is in the 8th grade and reading on a 1.4-grade level. 😮‍💨🤯

Where did the system go wrong in identifying his academic issues and creating a plan to close the gap!?

When you identify a student in class who’s disruptive, sleeping, saying they hate school and don’t want to participate, I can almost guarantee that it’s more about academics than behavior. The behavior is just a cover-up.

If you’re an educator, take the time to identify the root and then create a plan to assist the child. If you’re a parent, stay involved, speak with the team, and invest in a tutor to help your child.
