Our Services

Educational Advocate

Did you know that every child should have access to a free and appropriate education?

If you’re overwhelmed and have questions about special education and your child’s rights and protection in an educational setting, you’ve come to the right place.  J.L. Consulting is committed to making sure that every child has everything they need to access the curriculum. Our services include, but are not limited to, attending meetings to represent the parent and child, working with the school and parents to review and make changes to the IEP, 504, and BIP, recommend modifications and accommodations for the child, identify problems that are interfering with the child’s ability to access the curriculum, and so much more.

*Please note that we are not attorneys and can not represent you as legal counsel in a lawsuit in state or federal court. Our services are not meant to replace professional legal advice. We are here to guide you through the special education process. If a situation moves beyond our expertise, we will recommend an attorney to assist you with legal matters.

Virtual Tutoring

Our top priority is to close the literacy gap in all of our scholars. The RISE Literacy Tutoring Program ensures every student can access the curriculum. Therefore, before any student begins our program, our Testing Coordinator assesses them using the STAR Assessment to determine their Lexile Level, Instructional Reading Level, and Grade Equivalent Score to determine how well they are doing and focus on the areas of remediation.

This baseline assessment helps us support learners, identify strengths and weaknesses, and design an individualized plan for each child. As the child matriculates through our program, we will adjust plans as needed to match the pace of your child’s growth.

Consultations

It's time to shift!

We offer consultations for families interested in homeschooling, individuals interested in starting an educational business, and parents and schools interested in learning how to teach reading to scholars and children. For more information, on each area, please visit our store.

Read to Succeed Professional Development

J.L. Consulting’s goal is to increase literacy by providing innovative professional development in the area of reading to parents, educators, building leaders, educational organizations, through coaching, and using research-based strategies to effectively teach reading and writing in grades K-3.

Our top program, READ to Succeed Early Literacy Program focuses on the five areas of reading for beginning readers with offerings tailored for grades PreK-3. Our trainings ensure that schools implement reading strategies effectively to improve literacy levels.
